Our Service Area

Holdsy Plumbing works out of Gaithersburg across Montgomery County and into Frederick County. Whether you're on county water or a private well changes the diagnosis on half the calls we take, so it's worth saying which you have when you ring [(301) 834-2944](tel:+13018342944).

Most of the county is supplied by WSSC. The upper county, out past Damascus and Clarksburg toward Poolesville, runs largely on private wells, and those homes get a different conversation about pressure, [pumps](/services/well-pump-repair), and [water treatment](/services/water-treatment).

Two Different Plumbing Problems, One County

Inside the Beltway and through the older parts of Silver Spring, Kensington, Bethesda, and Rockville, the housing stock is old enough that sewer laterals were laid in clay or cast iron. Those have joints, roots find joints, and sewer line work is a routine part of owning one of those homes.

The newer developments, Clarksburg especially and much of Germantown, have none of that. What they have instead is scale from moderately hard county water working on fixtures and water heaters, so the calls skew toward maintenance and treatment rather than excavation.

Out in well country the whole frame changes. Pressure problems point at a tank or a switch rather than a valve, and iron or sulfur in the supply is a treatment question before it's a plumbing one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers below
Do you charge a trip fee outside Gaithersburg? +
Tell us where you are when you call and you'll get a straight answer about whether the location changes anything before anyone is dispatched. Estimates are free.
Do you work on private wells? +
Yes, and it's a real part of what we do rather than a sideline. The upper county around Damascus, Clarksburg and Poolesville is largely on wells, and pump, pressure tank and well line work all come with that.
How far into Frederick County do you go? +
We cover Frederick, Urbana and Mount Airy. Frederick city runs its own water system rather than WSSC, and outside the city plenty of properties are on wells, so tell us which applies when you call.
