Two Different Plumbing Problems, One County
Inside the Beltway and through the older parts of Silver Spring, Kensington, Bethesda, and Rockville, the housing stock is old enough that sewer laterals were laid in clay or cast iron. Those have joints, roots find joints, and sewer line work is a routine part of owning one of those homes.
The newer developments, Clarksburg especially and much of Germantown, have none of that. What they have instead is scale from moderately hard county water working on fixtures and water heaters, so the calls skew toward maintenance and treatment rather than excavation.
Out in well country the whole frame changes. Pressure problems point at a tank or a switch rather than a valve, and iron or sulfur in the supply is a treatment question before it's a plumbing one.
